The Working Woman's Wardrobe

As a woman with a full time career I’ve found it’s most important to utilize a select group of well made, staple items when getting ready in the morning. These items allow me to have a basis to start with to then add trendier, fun pieces to finish off a look. (Much like the image above - sourced from Collage Vintage ) Her staple cropped pants and great winter jacket work seamlessly with her bright sweater and trendy shoes to keep her looking polished and professional. Above and below are some of the items I love to keep on hand in my closet. From classic stilettos to a well made pencil skirt they are items that every closet should have.

Check below for some of my favorite picks!

Wardrobe Staple Series - A White Handbag

Ecco derna clutch {c/o}| Calypso St Barth ruby army jacket | AG 'ankle legging' jeans | Banana Republic blouse | Ivanka Trump Indico heel {now on sale}

Two of my top wardrobe staples for spring and summer are a fabulous white clutch and a white handbag. White is not only on trend this season but it is a great neutral and coordinates easily with the majority of items in your wardrobe.  This retro-inspired white clutch with gold clasps by Ecco is versatile and stylish and is my new 'go to' spring/summer clutch. It has an adjustable and detachable strap and it is a great bag for day or night. I also have my eye on this white Rebecca Minkoff tote

Wardrobe Staple Series: Destroyed Denim

Last Wednesday I spent the day working out of the new Georgetown office space and had a couple of meetings and coffee dates. It was the perfect day to wear my new AG ankle "legging jeans and white Raison D'etre moto jacket. One of my favorite looks right now is dressing up destroyed and distressed denim with a moto jacket, silk blouse, and pointy toe heels. The look is so polished and edgy.

Have you added a pair of distressed jeans to your spring wardrobe?

Wardrobe Staple Series-Leather Moto Jacket

Today's wardrobe staple series features my client and friend Catherine Zinn of Neat Method and one of my favorite wardrobe staples- a chic leather moto jacket.  No matter what your personal style is a leather moto jacket is a great wardrobe essential and it can be worn year round and paired up with the majority of items already in your wardrobe. With Catherine I decided to show three varying looks that are perfect as we transition from winter to spring. Doesn't she look fabulous?

I admit I probably have one too leather jackets and I am quite happy wearing mine every single day. What about you? Have you invested in your perfect moto jacket?

 And check out more of my wardrobe staples here and also Catherine on my Style Profile series.

Wardrobe Staple Series- Chambray Shirt

Photo Credit 1/2/3/4/5/6

Chambray {pronounced sham bray} is a lightweight double-ply woven fabric comprised of colored thread and bleached horizontal thread.  Chambray looks like denim and feels like linen and is wardrobe staple because it ultra versatile and can be worn year round.  Whether your style is classic, trendy, sophisticated, or feminine, a chambray shirt will work in your wardrobe. My favorite way to wear a chambray shirt is with a fitted black mini skirt but you can also use it a cover up with your bikini or wear it unbuttoned as a jacket. It is also a great piece to use if you are looking to remix or expand your wardrobe.

What is your favorite way to wear chambray?
