Color Trend: Evergreen Accents

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We spent the week in North Carolina with my family and it was such a relaxing and fun week of doing pretty much nothing but eating and drinking. And for once I didn't mind the 5 hour drive to Raleigh-thanks to the Serial podcast.

For Thanksgiving it was just my family (which is a first) but we are a big group of 10 so it was no small gathering.   My mom, sister, sister in law, and I all made various dishes. I made sweet potatoes with a rice crispy toppingmultigrain bread stuffing with sausage and herbs, and an oreo cheesecake. And on Friday we took some family portraits in Chapel Hill. I will definitely share more photos later but in the meantime you can check out a few here on instagram.

Today we have our fashion contributor Faith Pierce sharing some of her favorite dark green items. I am loving this color and Faith definitely inspired me to embrace this beautiful dark green and festive color on my nails {photo above and here

While shopping in New York the other weekend I found that I was repeatedly being drawn to the same dark green shades in almost every store. It felt fresh compared to the burgundy and navy blues that had been gracing the windows previously and all too appropriate for the upcoming holiday months. From nails, to coats, to shoes it is definitely my color of choice for the moment.

It's Moving Time

I cannot believe it has been two years since we moved from Boston to Bethesda! After living in a rental home for two years and searching for a new home for over a year we have found a home to call our own.

I have to tell you about our amazing builder Carole Sherman. Carol is a Stanford educated entrepreneur  and one of the few women in the United States in home construction.  In fact only 7 percent of the members of the National Association of Homebuilders are women. Carole has won eight awards for excellence from the Montgomery County Builders Association and she is the first woman to become President of the organization.

Carole did an amazing job with this home. In fact when I walked in and saw the luggage closet, master bath with two toilets, an ample-size prep sink in the kitchen island, and a huge pantry,  I knew a woman built this home.

We are packing up today, squeezing in some much needed family time for Thanksgiving, and then moving on Saturday. It is going to be a crazy busy but exciting week but we are so grateful and have so much to be thankful for.

And I guess this move means more stylish interior design posts on the blog in 2014!

UGG Riding Boots

Last weekend I had the opportunity to partner up with UGG Australia for a shopping trip to the Georgetown Ugg Store and trick or treating at Boo At The Zoo in DC. It was a fun family outing and of course Ariyana was in candy heaven.

I am a huge fan of the original Ugg boots and I typically wear them in the winter running errands,  going to barre class or the gym. They are also a must have for kids and every year I like to buy Ariyana a new pair. In the past I have always picked out Ariyana's Ugg boots {you know something neutral like black or grey} but this time she walked into the store and spotted these pink boots and insisted this was the pair she wanted.  There was absolutely no convincing her about trying on any other pair of boots in the store. I think she would have wanted the boots even if they were two sizes too small!

So I have to admit I had no idea Ugg carried such chic boots and ankle boots. Who knew right? Since I already have a pair of the original Ugg boots I decided to try out these riding boots.  The boots, crafted in oiled suede and buttery leather with a stylish rear zipper,  are so comfortable, cozy, and chic. And the best feature of these boots is that they are have a luxurious sheepskin sockliner. {just like the original Ugg boots} So if you're looking for a new pair of riding boots I would highly recommend checking these out.

Boots we selected from the Ugg store in Georgetown {1249 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington DC 20007}  castille riding boots, bailey bow ugg boots, and vanowen 78

Disclosure-Ugg shoes and tickets to Boo At The Zoo were provided as part of this review. No compensation was provided and all opinions are my own.

Mini Getaway - Napa And Sonoma

{Peju Winery}

Last weekend we met up with my sister and brother in law in Sonoma and spent three days enjoying all that wine country has to offer.  We stayed at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa and spent most of the time visiting our favorite wineries and exploring a few new ones. The trip was short but I find that mini getaways are the perfect way to take a break from the hassles of daily life and feel refreshed and renewed.

Some of the wineries we visited included Peju, Fontanella, Gloria Ferrer, Truett Hurst, Ledson, Opus One, and La Crema.
