How To Style A Pair of Ankle Boots Three Ways

Today we have our fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, sharing three fun ways to style a pair of ankle boots for Fall. Ankle boots are definitely my fall "go to " shoe of choice. I just got these Stuart Weitzman open toe ankle boots on sale and LOVE them. They are so comfortable and they work with skinny jeans, skirts, and dresses.

With fall fashion starting to be on everyone’s mind; I figured it was no better timing than now to expand on my recent post One Blazer, Three Ways I picked another fall favorite, the ankle boot and got to researching. My favorite look hands down is the “casual” outfit. I’m totally obsessing over all chunky knits and love how oversized fedoras have been spotted everywhere recently.

Coming in a close second is the “work” look. In the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar I stumbled across a very stark black and white look that was finished off with an ankle boot. It was by far the most eye-catching look in the spread and I’ve been dying to recreate it for everyday wear!

Lastly, what I love about the “ evening" look is how it is perfect for now, but also great for cooler weather with some added tights and a jacket.

4 Rules For Wearing All Black

LaGarconne Moderne Didion Tank | Proenza Schouler Ultra Skinny Denim Jeans {I just got this pair and they fit great} | YSL clutch | 10 Crosby Derek Lam Cohen Pointy Toe Booties | Kendra Scott bracelet | YSL sunglasses | NARS satin lip pencil {LOVE these!}

Black on black is one of my all time favorite ways to dress. The look is sleek, elegant, and easy to style. To help you style an all black outfit I have four style tips or rules to follow to ensure your all black ensemble is super stylish and chic!

4 Rules For Wearing All Black

1. Vary the textures and fabrics and make sure the fabrics are season appropriate.

2. Make sure the fit is tailored and slimming. This will make an all black ensemble look chic and modern.

3. Add accessories such as a colorful clutch, pair of statement shoes, or even an interesting piece of jewelry.

4. Go from day to night with a chance in lipstick color. Nude or light pink would look great during the day and a nice bold red lip for evening.

What To Wear: Navy Blue Skirt

Today we have our intern Carly sharing some style tips for wearing a navy blue skirt this fall. And coincidentally I just picked up this DVF navy lace skirt and this Theory navy pencil skirt at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Both skirts will be great pieces to wear in the fall and winter months and they are a nice change from the typical black skirts I would ordinarily choose.

As August arrives it is officially time to start looking ahead to fall. This means time to head to the storage closet and dust off your autumn pieces. It also means deciding what you can take with you into the next season and what summer looks should remain in summer. One item that can most definitely make the shift into fall is the navy blue skirt. All summer long it has been combined ever so perfectly with a white tank top and a pair of block heels.

Now it is time to take this incredible staple and make it ready for the fall. It is such a versatile piece because of the deep and rich color yet often times a lightweight fabric, so it can truly be worn so many ways. In order to recreate the look above all you need to do is get out your go-to white tank top, a pair of neutral color block heels, your favorite round sunglasses and your nude tote. This look is so simple and chic. It is such an effortlessly stylish ensemble and the best part about it is that all you have to do to take this look into fall is pick your favorite lightweight sweater to layer over your tank top. There isn’t much more to it just add a layer and you are all set for the new season!---Carly

One Blazer--->Three Ways

Today we have our beauty and fashion contributor Faith Pierce showing us how to wear one fabulous blazer three ways.

Every August as the fall lines start to roll out, I find myself searching once again for staple pieces. One of my favorite items to search for are blazers. The Theory one above is one of my favorites for this coming fall. With its slightly oversized, boyfriend feel, and quirky details (like the cut out at the neck) it is the perfect staple to add to your wardrobe. While wearing a blazer to the office is most common, I also love throwing them on for casual weekend outings, and to head out for drinks on cooler evenings.

During the weekend relaxed pieces, fun trainers, and a funky bag help offset the structure of a blazer. For a night out, the slightly oversized fit helps balance out shorter pieces. Since a blazer is no stranger in the office, I love pairing pieces like these fun metallic loafers and a creamy pant to help keep the look from being too “suit-like”.

GET THE LOOK

Olivia Palermo is a style icon that can do virtually no wrong. She perpetually seems to step out in incredible, yet simple ensembles that are flattering and timeless. Palermo is one who rarely if ever is placed on the worst dressed list because she just understands what trends fit her body, aesthetic and mood. This look is no different, it is simple pieces that all posses elegant details and combine to create a seamless look.

At first glance this look is merely two tones, black and tan. However, upon further investigation the details begin to emerge. From the patterned shorts to the textured sweater and silk top, it is the small aspects of this look that culminate in a chic ensemble. In order to recreate this look it is crucial to maintain these details or else this outfit will loose its elegance. So when shopping around, you have to be sure to look closely at each piece and invest in quality.

When you dissect this ensemble all you need is a knit sweater, silk top, black shorts, a leather tote {or this one}and black pumps. These pieces are all great basics that can transition into fall so easily. The varied textures and cohesive colors are slightly heavier pieces that will be able to be paired with leggings or jeans for a fall time look. As summer comes to a close and fall begins, try out this look on those slightly colder days as an effortless ensemble. --Carly
