How To Style A Denim Jacket

Fall is officially here and it is definitely starting to feel like it. It's my favorite time of the year because I love layering outfits with tailored coats, long vests, and cozy cardigans. Today we have our fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, showing us a fun way to style a denim jacket for the cooler fall weather.

One trend that keeps popping up all over my Pinterest recently is the denim jacket for Fall. I’ve been a little skeptical of this trend, since the last time I wore a denim jacket it was quite the jean on jean disaster. Think jean mini skirt with matching (ill-fitted) jean jacket. Putting those thoughts aside; the more recent versions of the denim jacket have been looking rather appealing, so I figured it was the perfect time (and weather) to put a look together.

For an easy way to wear the jacket I kept the denim on top light, and the base much darker. A sweater with texture keeps a neutral look interesting, and a great colored bag and shoes finish off the look. For a more daytime approach, swap the heels for a great low ankle boot!

Fall Trend: Ankle Boots with Gold Details

Fall's biggest must have is the ankle boot and this season ankle boots are updated to include gold hardware/details. Whether you go for a dressy pair to wear with dresses and skirts to work or a more casual flat ankle boot for the weekends they are tons of great styles and prices points to choose from. I have this pair of peep toe booties from Stuart Weitzman and just ordered this pair in black from Ann Taylor yesterday {on sale for 40% off} Today our beauty and fashion contributor, Faith Pierce is sharing some of her favorite style of ankle boots.

One of my favorite shoe trends I’ve seen popping up this season is the ankle boot with gold hardware/details. I’m loving that you can find the boots in not only black but a variety of browns and burgundy shades. Above I’ve rounded up a range of this boot style (in all different price points). My personal favorite are definitely the Topshop “Mine” boots. I love the gold interior of the heel and the buckles across the top.

New Beauty Releases for Fall

Today our fashion and beauty contributor Faith Pierce is rounding up some of the seasons newest beauty products. Last week Faith and I had the opportunity to attend the Neiman Marcus Blooger Beauty Trend event and we sampled several of these amazing products. I tried the YSL Ink Foundation and loved the weightless and smooth coverage. It also gives a nice soft matte finish.

Along with fall fashion I typically find fall beauty products to be the standout products of the year. I personally love the color palettes that get released, the deep neutrals, and nice bold lips. Above are a few newer released products in the beauty world that are creating some buzz.

Armani Eye & Brow Maestro: This is a very cool product; it’s an all in one, easy to throw in your bag pot in which you get a brow shaper, a contouring product, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and a root touchup - yes root touchup, you can even use this product on your hair. It comes in nine waterproof shades and has a cream texture with incredibly long lasting properties. Definitely a good grab for a woman on the go!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara: Just when you though Lancôme couldn’t top themselves in the mascara department along comes Grandiôse. The idea behind this product and it’s wild looking wand, is to make it easier for users to apply mascara on both eyes. For those of you who don’t switch hands to apply your non-dominant side, this product will be your lifesaver! It also keeps users from “pumping” their mascara - which is so bad for you! Each time the wand is pulled out of the tube you are left with exactly the right amount of mascara needed for your lashes. The formula is high gloss, smudge free, and uses rose cell extract for nourishment.

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide: This is a new foundation from Laura Mercier, which is a heavily water based two-part formula created to give a matte, flawless finish, and diminish the look of pores. Even though it is a matte formula it does not dry out the skin and feels incredibly lightweight.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aura: This is a personal favorite of mine from the fall launches. The hydrating formula of the Rouge Coco Shine leaves your lips moisturized but still pigmented. The dark shade is gorgeous but definitely not as intimidating on since it isn’t a matte finish. The best way to describe this one? It’s the look of having just bitten into fresh berries.

Bobbi Brown, “Sandy Nudes” Palette: I’m also a little biased on this one since nude palettes are my downfall. I love the pink and brown tones in this one and think they are gorgeous for fall. I also really love the shimmers that come out of Bobbi Brown. They give just the right amount of illumination without making you look like a disco ball.

Chanel Eyeshadow Quad, Tissé Vénitien: The launch of the Chanel quads has been much talked about, and they have definitely lived up to their hype. The formula is lovely and the color selections are gorgeous. I really love how Chanel prompts you to use the colors in a “C” formation to apply them. Clever, and easy to know which order they go in.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in “Charlotte”: There is nothing I love more than a NARS lipstick, so naturally when they released forty new colors I was ecstatic. The formula is creamy, super smooth, and very pigmented. They are non-drying and long lasting as well. Also, can we talk about the packaging? NARS always knocks it out of the park on packaging.

YSL, Fusion “Ink” Foundation: This foundation has a lot of hype around it. It is meant to be a feather-light feel with the coverage of ink and incredible lasting power (24 hours according to YSL). The finish is more of a satin finish with a slight amount of glow to it.

How To Style A Sweater 3 Ways

Happy Friday!Today we have our fabulous fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, sharing her styling tips with a chunky knit sweater.

Keeping up with my theme of fall staple items and how to style them; I figured I would add my personal favorite the “chunky knit sweater” to the mix. Even in the 80 degree weather we are having now I am constantly looking at my oversized and chunky sweaters wishing I could throw one on.

My favorite way to pair a chunky sweater for fall is definitely with a full, midi skirt. As long as your sweater option is slightly shrunken in the torso, the proportions will add up perfectly. As for the accessories go, I can’t get over the green color of this bag! Normally I go for burgundy or navy blue in the fall but I’ve been seeing green pop up lately and definitely need to get my hands on the color. I’m also loving the patent leather oxfords paired with the casual look. I think it is a great way to add a little pop of something special to a Saturday errands outfit, and branches out from your typical boot pairing with denim and sweaters.

How To Style A Pair of Ankle Boots Three Ways

Today we have our fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, sharing three fun ways to style a pair of ankle boots for Fall. Ankle boots are definitely my fall "go to " shoe of choice. I just got these Stuart Weitzman open toe ankle boots on sale and LOVE them. They are so comfortable and they work with skinny jeans, skirts, and dresses.

With fall fashion starting to be on everyone’s mind; I figured it was no better timing than now to expand on my recent post One Blazer, Three Ways I picked another fall favorite, the ankle boot and got to researching. My favorite look hands down is the “casual” outfit. I’m totally obsessing over all chunky knits and love how oversized fedoras have been spotted everywhere recently.

Coming in a close second is the “work” look. In the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar I stumbled across a very stark black and white look that was finished off with an ankle boot. It was by far the most eye-catching look in the spread and I’ve been dying to recreate it for everyday wear!

Lastly, what I love about the “ evening" look is how it is perfect for now, but also great for cooler weather with some added tights and a jacket.
