The Beauty Edit: Summer Simple

For me, summer is all about minimal makeup that is easy going and travel friendly. I turn to peachy shades and a bit of a bronzy glow on the skin while pairing back on the eyes. Wet, jet black formulas are what I look for in a mascara - this way it is easy to get an impact with just a bit of product. A good base with SPF and a hydrating lip balm finish off the look. The Non-Sequined New Years Outfit

For the past few years I’ve sported full blown sequined numbers on New Years. While they are loads of fun, I’ve decided this year to look for something a bit different and unique. Aside from the major shedding sequins do as you dance the night away, I wanted to have an outfit that other’s may not. I’m absolutely loving the darker gold tones of this Tibi full skirt (my obsession as of late) and to keep things fun for a nighttime event I paired it with a crop top. Showing just a sliver of skin is perfect for a big night out (without freezing)! Since it is New Years I added a bit of sparkly jewelry and an ostrich feather bag.

Holiday Party Outfit Inspiration

With the holiday season in full gear, one of the top things on my mind is what to wear to all of the holiday events I have coming up! Especially the work related ones. The look above is my absolute go-to for the season. Lots of rose gold metallics, a creamy (and soft) knit dressed up with a gorgeous full skirt, and pops of emerald. I think the best way to finish off your makeup look is with a vampy lip. This keeps everything fresh and looking too “red and green”. Below are some of my other favorite picks for the season. I’m especially loving the black dress with ostrich feathers and the striped skirt paired with either the red turtleneck or black sequined top!

Color Trend: Evergreen Accents

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We spent the week in North Carolina with my family and it was such a relaxing and fun week of doing pretty much nothing but eating and drinking. And for once I didn't mind the 5 hour drive to Raleigh-thanks to the Serial podcast. 

For Thanksgiving it was just my family (which is a first) but we are a big group of 10 so it was no small gathering.   My mom, sister, sister in law, and I all made various dishes. I made sweet potatoes with a rice crispy topping, multigrain bread stuffing with sausage and herbs, and an oreo cheesecake. And on Friday we took some family portraits in Chapel Hill. I will definitely share more photos later but in the meantime you can check out a few here on instagram. 

Today we have our fashion contributor Faith Pierce sharing some of her favorite dark green items. I am loving this color and Faith definitely inspired me to embrace this beautiful dark green and festive color on my nails {photo above and here} 

While shopping in New York the other weekend I found that I was repeatedly being drawn to the same dark green shades in almost every store. It felt fresh compared to the burgundy and navy blues that had been gracing the windows previously and all too appropriate for the upcoming holiday months. From nails, to coats, to shoes it is definitely my color of choice for the moment.
