GET THE LOOK: Beach Beauty

With a few simple products, packing for holiday is a breeze. Think tan enhancing products, a good SPF, a fragrance that screams summertime, and a few heat proof (and multi-use) makeup products to finish off an evening look. Above an below are some of my favorites.

Clinique SPF 50: No travel bag is complete without a good SPF. Finding on that is easy on your skin helps to keep your pores from clogging while keeping you from burning.

St. Tropez In Shower - Gradual Tan: Since protecting our skin is the most important, fake a post beach bronze with this easy product. Throw on while washing off from a day in the sand and sun for instant results.

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil: This product is ideal for creating that perfect post-beach glow. It gives the perfect radiance and shimmer to your collarbone and shoulders. Throw on for an evening dinner on the water.

Bobbi Brown Beach: Pack a fragrance that is light, airy, and reminiscent of summer days spent by the surf. This Bobbi Brown classic does the trick.

Tom Ford Cream Cheek Color ‘Pink Sand’: This stunning cream blush works wonders on bronzy skin due to the subtle highlight that runs through it. Double this one up by using it for a pop of color on the lips as well!

CoverGirl LashBlast Super Size Mascara: New to the CoverGirl range, this one packs quite a punch. It leaves behind super black, wet lashes that have some serious staying power. Perfect for a simple summer look where you still want a bit of impact around the eyes.

Formula X Nail Polish ‘Powder Blue’: Last but not least, the perfect beachy mani-pedi. A light minty blue is fresh and warm weather perfect!

CoverGirl Mascara and Eyeliner Review

I am not one to use drugstore makeup-mostly because I like to try on makeup products before I them. So when CoverGirl sent me the new Super Sizer Mascara and Intensif Me!Eyeliner I was excited to give both these products a try. This past week I was in Chicago for work so I took these along and used them for a few days. Both the eyeliner and mascara worked pretty well, they lasted all day, and came off easily using an oil based eye make up remover. For the price points I was pleased with the overall quality and feel of both the eyeliner and mascara.

Super Sizer Mascara Styling Tips

  • Start by placing the Lash Styler right at the base of the lashes, use the flat side at the base-you will get an immediate drenching of mascara.
  • Then comb the volume through from root to tip, by twirling or rotating as you go. This will allow the shorter bristles to deliver maximum mascara while the longer bristles comb it through.
  • Create your own style and technique by continuing to sculpt and style the lashes until you reach supersized, corner to corner volume.

 Intensify Me!Eyeliner by LashBlast

  • The new paddle-shaped tip makes a dramatic eye look easy by providing the control of a pencil and the intensity of a liquid liner.
  • Get two looks in one, with no mess-thick and dramatic or thin and elegant.
  • Use the flat side of the tip to create thick lines or the narrow side for thin lines.

The Beauty Edit: Bold + Bare

As the temperature begins to spike, my makeup preferences tend to shift. Less is more and to stay polished a bright pop of lip color pulls a look together. Nothing screams hot summer days like a hot pink lip. For daytime keep the brows full and neat and skin products minimal. At night add a few lashing of jet black mascara.

April Beauty Favorites

I thought I would share some of my new makeup and beauty products I have picked up over the last month. I would love to hear about any great beauty finds you have come across lately.

1.Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer- I have tried so many under eye concealers over the years and while I do have a few favorites {here and here} this concealer has won all sorts of awards so I thought I would give it a a try. I have been applying after my corrector and it seems to be working pretty well. It gives a smooth and even finish and doesn't cake up. I think the trick with any of these concealers is moisturizing first and also patting and not rubbing in the concealer.

2. Nars mini blush and bronzer-this duo brings together two of my favorites from Nars-the Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzing powder.  I carry this little compact in my handbag and use it for on the go touch ups.

3. La Mer eye balm intense-I have been using La Mer eye concentrate for years but I decided to give the eye balm intense a try. {see video here} The eye balm intense smoothes, hydrates, and deeply conditions the under eye area. I have been using it in the morning and night.

4. Estee Lauder pure color envy sculpting lipstick-{color-dynamic} When I was hosting the fashion show at Bloomingdales last month I had my makeup done at the Estee Lauder counter and I tried this lipstick. I like this particular lipstick because it's creamy and goes on evenly and effortlessly. And the color is really saturated and long lasting.

5. Oribe root touch up spray- I have been using Color Wow for root touch ups and those grey hairs that seem to keep popping up. But I was recently introduced to Oribe's root touch ups spray and wanted to give it a try. This airbrushing spray works great-it's light and absorbs excess oil from the hair. I like both products a lot so I keep the touch up spray in my makeup bag in my purse and for travel and I use the Color Wow at home.

Five Brushes Every Makeup Bag Needs

The more I've developed my skills in the beauty department, the more I have realized the importance of good brushes. A good brush can take a so, so product and work wonders with it. While I have a large collection at this point, I'd say that there are about five brushes I really rely on to give a flawless finish and make product application easy.

The Foundation Brush: I've tried a few variations of foundation brushes and have found that a buffing brush gives me the most flawless finish. When used in circular motions around the face I find that product blends evenly and gives that "my skin, only better" appearance.

The Precise Concealer Brush: A smaller version of the buffing brush which is perfect for getting into the smaller areas of the face. I use this primarily under my eyes and around my nose - perfect for concealing dark circles and red spots.

The Cheek Definer Brush: A smaller, fluffy brush like the NARS Yachiyo brush is perfect for multiple uses - contouring, adding blush, highlighting, and spot treating areas with translucent powder. A one brush does it all sort of deal. The smaller size allows for you to easily get into the hollows of your cheek bones, apply precisely to the apple of the cheek, and highlight.

The Blending Brush: A must have for any type of eye shadow application. I rarely use any other eye shadow brush because this one does the job so well. It's fluffy, soft bristles are perfect for smoothing out rough edges and adding contrast to the crease. Hands down the most commonly used blending brush is the MAC 217.

The Small Angled Brush: This brush can be used for multiple purposes as well - eyeliner, brow definition, and lips. The small angled tip allows for precise liner application, giving detail to brows, and getting that perfect red lip.
