Favorite Nail Polish For Fall

Hi everyone! Today we have our fabulous fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, sharing some of the season's best nail polish colors.

Like every other part of Fall fashion, I find that nail colors get ten times better with each new Autumnal season. While I love to stick to dark, vampy colors I’m also loving a few other nail trends I’ve been seeing lately. The bronzed metallics have totally caught my eye and will also transition so well into the holidays. The deep, military greens are a fun change from berry toned reds and navy blue will always be chic.

Navy Blues:
Julep, ‘Michelle’
Essie, ‘Style Cartel’
Butter London, ‘Royal Navy’
Marc Jacobs Beauty, ‘New Wave’
Deborah Lippmann, ‘Rolling in the Deep’

Military Green:
Essie, ‘Power Clutch’
NARS, ‘Night Porter’
Marc Jacobs Beauty, ‘Nirvana’
Deborah Lippmann, ‘Billionaire’
Chanel, ‘Mysterious’

Nudes:
Chanel, ‘Frenzy’
Marc Jacobs Beauty, ‘Funny Girl’
YSL, ‘Beige’
Essie, ‘Don’t Sweater It’
NARS, ‘Zakynthos’

Bronze Metallic:
Topshop, ‘Glimmer’
Julep, ‘Jane’
Marc Jacobs Beauty, ‘Showgirl’
NARS, ‘Delos’
Butter London, ‘The Old Bill’

Berry Tones:
NARS, ‘Endless Night;
OPI, ‘Black Cherry Chutney’
Tom Ford, ‘Fall 2014’
Formula X, ‘Legend’
Deborah Lippmann, ‘Dark Side of the Moon’

8 New Fragrances for Fall 2014

Today Faith Pierce, our beauty and fashion contributor,  is rounding up new fragrance releases for Fall. Out of these 8 new fragrances I have only tried The new Burberry fragrance but I absolutely love it!  I also just picked up this perfume by Narcisco Rodriguez. It's not a new fall release but it's a new favorite of mine.

Along with makeup comes lots of fragrance releases for Fall. Above I’ve rounded up a few of the best new launches and below is a little bit about each.

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Daisy Dream: Noted as the more sophisticated and ethereal sister to original Daisy (launched in 2007). It is filled with notes of blackberry, pear, blue wisteria, and jasmine.

Givenchy, Dahlia Divin: Launched this past month, the fragrance boasts a woody base filled with sandalwood and patchouli. Opening notes are jasmine and white floral giving this fragrance a good balance.

Burberry, My Burberry: This is one of the bigger launches of the season, and came on the market in September. The look is inspired by the classic Burberry trench, and the scent mimics the freshness of a London garden after the rain. Creator Francis Kurkdjian used the main scent of roses and freesia (the two add a bit of spice), then mixed in geranium leaves which give a herbal note to the fragrance.

Byredo, Mojave Ghost: Inspired by the “Ghost Flower” (Mohavea Confertiflora) this fragrance is woody and light, and intensifies with wear.

Aerin, Iris Meadow: Launching this month, Iris Meadow boasts a crisp scent filled with florals and woody notes. It is a clean, green scent reminiscent of a lush, open field.

Narciso Rodriguez, Narciso: This is a sexy scent (in a very sexy and simple bottle); which uses white gardenia and rose. The base is woody and composed of two types of cedar.

Jo Malone, Wood Sage & Sea Salt: Much talked about, this fragrance is filled with the scent of sea salt and driftwood. It is reminiscent of British beaches, and the mineral scent of rugged cliffs.

Tom Ford, Velvet Orchid: As a homage to the grand oriental fragrances of the 1980’s; Tom Ford created Velvet Orchid. A spicy, woody, amber scent. This glamorous scent is also feminine, with a punch of floral added to the oriental/fruity notes.

New Beauty Releases for Fall

Today our fashion and beauty contributor Faith Pierce is rounding up some of the seasons newest beauty products. Last week Faith and I had the opportunity to attend the Neiman Marcus Blooger Beauty Trend event and we sampled several of these amazing products. I tried the YSL Ink Foundation and loved the weightless and smooth coverage. It also gives a nice soft matte finish.

Along with fall fashion I typically find fall beauty products to be the standout products of the year. I personally love the color palettes that get released, the deep neutrals, and nice bold lips. Above are a few newer released products in the beauty world that are creating some buzz.

Armani Eye & Brow Maestro: This is a very cool product; it’s an all in one, easy to throw in your bag pot in which you get a brow shaper, a contouring product, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and a root touchup - yes root touchup, you can even use this product on your hair. It comes in nine waterproof shades and has a cream texture with incredibly long lasting properties. Definitely a good grab for a woman on the go!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara: Just when you though Lancôme couldn’t top themselves in the mascara department along comes Grandiôse. The idea behind this product and it’s wild looking wand, is to make it easier for users to apply mascara on both eyes. For those of you who don’t switch hands to apply your non-dominant side, this product will be your lifesaver! It also keeps users from “pumping” their mascara - which is so bad for you! Each time the wand is pulled out of the tube you are left with exactly the right amount of mascara needed for your lashes. The formula is high gloss, smudge free, and uses rose cell extract for nourishment.

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide: This is a new foundation from Laura Mercier, which is a heavily water based two-part formula created to give a matte, flawless finish, and diminish the look of pores. Even though it is a matte formula it does not dry out the skin and feels incredibly lightweight.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aura: This is a personal favorite of mine from the fall launches. The hydrating formula of the Rouge Coco Shine leaves your lips moisturized but still pigmented. The dark shade is gorgeous but definitely not as intimidating on since it isn’t a matte finish. The best way to describe this one? It’s the look of having just bitten into fresh berries.

Bobbi Brown, “Sandy Nudes” Palette: I’m also a little biased on this one since nude palettes are my downfall. I love the pink and brown tones in this one and think they are gorgeous for fall. I also really love the shimmers that come out of Bobbi Brown. They give just the right amount of illumination without making you look like a disco ball.

Chanel Eyeshadow Quad, Tissé Vénitien: The launch of the Chanel quads has been much talked about, and they have definitely lived up to their hype. The formula is lovely and the color selections are gorgeous. I really love how Chanel prompts you to use the colors in a “C” formation to apply them. Clever, and easy to know which order they go in.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in “Charlotte”: There is nothing I love more than a NARS lipstick, so naturally when they released forty new colors I was ecstatic. The formula is creamy, super smooth, and very pigmented. They are non-drying and long lasting as well. Also, can we talk about the packaging? NARS always knocks it out of the park on packaging.

YSL, Fusion “Ink” Foundation: This foundation has a lot of hype around it. It is meant to be a feather-light feel with the coverage of ink and incredible lasting power (24 hours according to YSL). The finish is more of a satin finish with a slight amount of glow to it.

STYLE PROFILE- Kitiya King of Mischo Beauty

Today's STYLE PROFILE features Kitiya Mischo King of Mischo Beauty. Kitiya is a successful entrepreneur and owner/founder of beauty start up Mischo Beauty.  She also works a 9-5 job and is a wife and mother to a 2 year old. Kitiya is truly an amazing and inspiring woman  and she has fabulous style too!

Name: Kitiya Mischo King
Current Title/Company: Mischo Beauty
Location: Washington, DC

I’m a licensed cosmetologist, esthetician, manicurist and makeup artist with professional training and experience from Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, and Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Spa. I also have a degree in Chemistry  It has always been a dream of mine to blend my science background with my passion for beauty.  When I was pregnant with my son, I was very selective with the products I was using, and actually didn’t polish my nails for the first six months of my pregnancy because of all the harmful toxins found in nail polish. I eventually started using polishes that were 5FREE (free of harmful toxins most commonly found in nail polish), but found that the formulas didn’t go on smoothly or they weren’t durable. After giving birth to my son, I decided it was time to combine my science and beauty backgrounds and I transitioned my beauty blog into a beauty brand, which launched its first line of products – Mischo Luxury Nail Lacquers – on November 1, 2013

1. What does a typical day look like for you?

I have so many moving parts going on in my life right now, that no day is the same for me. I am a wife and mother to a 2 year old, and I also have a 9 to 5 job.  Before everyone rises, I am already up answering emails and checking my to-do list for the day. I usually break at lunch to work on my business and make calls to ensure deadlines are being met.  I don't begin work on the brand again until my family has settled in for the night. And because my brand is a start-up, I work at least one weekend day, as well.

2. How would you describe your personal style?

Simple, effortless, chic!

3. What are your favorite items in your wardrobe and why?

It's a 3-way tie between my YSL Tribute Two pumps, Valentino Rockstud Leather pumps and my Givenchy Nightingale bag.  I love them all because they are statement pieces that compliment just about everything in my wardrobe.

4. Do you have any style or beauty secrets to share?

I love coconut oil! I use it for EVERYTHING – in my hair, on my skin, as a makeup remover, after waxing and the list goes on and on!  It’s an amazing moisturizer, does a great job at penetrating the hair’s shaft, and is both antibacterial and antifungal.

5. How do you spend your "me" time?

My guilty pleasure is reality television and I love to spa!  When an opportunity to get a facial, massage, manicure and pedicure presents itself - I'm there!

6. What is the most important thing you have learned through running your own business?

You must make a commitment, stay focused, and hang on tight for the roller coaster ride to come. It’s important to keep pushing ahead during the good and tough times.

7. What is your mantra?

"I trust God completely, there is no need to worry."

Five Great Dupes for M.A.C. Lipsticks

Do you prefer to splurge on higher priced lipsticks or do you go for the cheaper options from the drugstore? Today we our fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, sharing five great drugstore dupes for M.A.C. lipsticks.

Bold lip color is something I almost never shy away from. From vampy reds, to hot pink, and everything in between I am definitely a lipstick addict. However, when certain colors start trending I don’t always want to splurge on the higher priced product. I have found the best way to play with new colors is to purchase the cheaper, drugstore dupe first. This way I know I love the color on me before buying the higher end version. Above are a few of my favorites that range from nude to dark.

Nude:

Bright Pink:

Orangey/Red:

Classic Red:

Deep Red:
