Fall Style and Trends-The IT List

Every year as the September Issues hit the stands, I realize it’s a little bit like Christmas. I can’t wait to get each issue and comb through the pages. The ads are extra beautiful, the issues super thick with content, and overall filled with the excitement of Fashion’s biggest season. There is something so wonderful about a fresh start and an update to your day to day look. (Personally, I find the crisp beginnings of Fall way more of a reason to start new than January 1.) This list compiles a few of my favorite trends for the upcoming season - whether you’re shopping designer or high-street these are everywhere. My favorites include velvet & lady-like block heels. Bring on the cooler temps and shopping sprees!- Faith

How To Style A Denim Skirt from Summer To Fall

When the denim mini skirt began to make a comeback I started having vivid flashbacks to the early 2000s aka Paris Hilton style denim - uber low cut, distressed, and all in all about six inches of fabric. While some of the styles have a distressed vibe this time around, thankfully they are a million times more chic. Paired with the right pieces the denim mini is perfect for a weekend trip or even casual Friday at the office. Above are two ways to wear the skirt - showing how to transition it from your summer Saturday look to your Fall casual Friday favorite.” - Faith

10 Investment Pieces Every Woman Should Own

Happy Friday! Last week I met with a new client and we pulled together a wish list of around 10-15 items that are missing from my client's wardrobe. What I have found is that many of my clients are missing the same types of items. So today I am sharing a list of 10 investment pieces every woman should have in her wardrobe. These items can be used to create endless outfits and are a great foundation to build your wardrobe.

1. Tailored black blazer. This can be a classic blazer but depending on your lifestyle an edgy moto jacket or leather jacket are both great alternatives.

2. Statement scarf. This season a leopard or floral print is on trend but even just a classic solid is perfect. A scarf is a great way to elevate and complete your look.

3. Chic pair of flats. These can be loafers, classic black flats, or have fun with it and go for a bold red pair.

4. Little black dress. Everyone needs one fitted black dress that they feel fabulous in.

5. Beautiful timepiece. A watch is a great way to dress up an outfit and perfect alternative to wearing bracelets.

6. Striped shirt. Usually we see a classic white button down on these types of lists but I like a striped shirt as an updated alternative. Pair is up with a blazer, jeans, and flats for a great look that is sophisticated and put together.

7. Dark wash jeans. These are universally flattering-just pick a style that works best for your body type.

8. Investment handbag. Check out more style tips about what type of bag to invest in here.

9. Jewelry you never take off. These are your 1-2 signature pieces that you were all the time and they are timeless and have special meaning to you.

10. Classic trench. This is one item you can keep in your wardrobe for years to come. You can wear it throughout the year and it works well with jeans and dresses.

Wardrobe Organization Tips

Are you starting to get ready for fall fashion? I can barely think about it considering we are having 100 degree weather here in Washington DC. But I did stop into Nordstrom the other day to check out the Anniversary sale and I was slightly tempted to do some fall shopping. I will definitely be going back next week with a little more time to check it out. As you're prepping your wardrobe for fall keep these 3 organzation tips in mind.

Wardrobe Organization Tips

1. Swap out wire and mismatched hangers for uniform ones. Your wardrobe will instanty look more organized and chic.

2. Display jewelry and accessories so they are visible and easy to access. If they are tucked away in drawers you will be less likey to use them on a regular basis.

3. Rotate your clothing so that the items you were most for the current season are in front and bonus if you organize your clothing by color!

Also if you missed it check out my post on 7 Tips To Edit Your Wardrobe For Spring. Many of these tips can apply to your fall wardrobe planning.

GET THE LOOK: Effortless Date Night

I’ve been a huge Sex and The City fan for as long as I can remember. It’s been such a big part of my life even starting since high school. For me, Carrie Bradshaw is the epitome of city girl fashion. Her love of ridiculously high shoes, designer trends, and the ability to pull of the most ridiculous pairings. However, my favorite Carrie is one from the beginning years. She effortlessly pulled off simple, body forming dresses with killer heels and great bags. She let her wild curly hair be her best accessory and she looked amazing. Channeling my inner Carrie, I’ve pulled together a modern day look that speaks very much to that vibe. Little accessories, a great (simple) dress, and some amazing heels. -Faith
