Welcome Dinner/Sangeet

I am back home after spending an incredible week with all our family and friends in North Carolina for my sister's wedding.  While I managed to take some photos I have to admit taking photos at the wedding and reception proved to be quite difficult. My focus and attention was making sure my sister was well taken care of and I wanted to spend quality time with all our friends and family.  It was such a fun and emotional week and it was really special to have family visiting from all over the world, including Canada, Europe, and Australia. I hope you will stay tuned as I share more photos from the wedding over the next couple of weeks.

And a big congrats goes out to my sister Rachna and her new husband Vik. They are off to Tahiti today for their honeymoon.

My sister (middle) wore a beautiful purple lengha she had custom made in India, I (left)wore a chiffon and embroidery dress I designed and had made in India. And my sister in law (right) is wearing a beautiful custom made lace sari.

Blending Beauty and Medicine

I sometimes get asked what my beauty routine is for my skin and if I get regular facials. Being a pharmacist and also having worked closely with dermatologists the past 5 years  I truly believe that every woman, no matter what age, should see a dermatologist on a regular basis. It is great to cleanse, tone, and moisturize on a daily basis but our skin needs more care and attention and this is especially true in our 30's and beyond.

It is important to visit with a dermatologist and have him or her make a diagnosis and treatment recommendations specifically tailored to your skin.  And if you have not gone this route you will be surprised that treatments like glycolic and salicylic acid peels are typically the same price as getting a facial at a spa.

Currently I am getting the Illuminize Peel with Gentle Waves about once a month and my skin has a healthy glow and feels so smooth. With these treatments I don't even need to get additional facials.

Do you see a dermatologist on a routine basis? And have you tried glycolic acid, salicylic acid peels, microdermabrasion, or any other treatments for your skin?

Stylish Things

I had the opportunity to attend the "Breakfast at Tiffany" event at the new Tiffany&Co. in the Chestnut Hill Mall. The event was classy and it was fun trying on all the gorgeous jewelry and accessories. I have been on the search for a bag to hold my ear buds and laptop and phone chargers so I was glad to find this one.

My sister in law's friend made these creative and adorable cookie favors for my nephew Niam's 1st birthday.

My mom's friend Geeta sent me a copy of her cookbook An Affair with Indian Cooking. {Available at Amazon} My sister also gave me this Pizza cookbook for diwali. With these two cookbooks I have no excuse not to cook now!

On Saturday Lissy, Lani, and I met up for a lunch and a shopping date. We had lunch at Sam's and then stopped by Louis Boston to check out Qi, one of the featured designers this weekend at Louis Exposure. This Christmas tree, made entirely from The Boston Globe newspaper, immediately caught my attention.

Left-Party Alice by Bobbie Brown, Middle-Shrinagar by NARS, Right-Russian Red by MAC

I usually wear nude shades of lipstick and lip gloss but lately I have been experimenting with bolder and brighter colors.  My latest purchase is Party Alice by Bobbie Brown. It is a limited edition lip color for the holidays.

A new pair of shoes to take with me tomorrow on my trip to New York City

MAC Lipstick-Russian Red and NARS Blush-Exhibit A

Lately I have been experimenting with red blush and red lipstick. Believe me I was skeptical to try this blush because it looks so bright but this shade of red is gorgeous and it gives just the right amount of color and glow.

Edie purse

I have been on the search for a structured and stylish top handle satchel for the fall/winter. So when my sister said she was going to a J.Crew event and could get 25% off I asked her to pick up this bag for me.

Tiffany & Co. coin purse and ERA "Love" square pendant

I had a great time hosting Fashion's Night Out last night at Tiffany & Co. I will share more details about this fabulous event with you next week but in the meantime I would like to thank the lovely folks at Tiffany & Co. for a great evening and for the generous gifts.

Stylish Things

This week I stocked up on some new makeup, threw away the old stuff, and finally organized it all.

I love the decor at The Mondrian in Soho especially these vases and lanterns.

Aneesh is away for work this week so Ariyana and I have been indulging in some of our favorite foods including pancakes and Mac and Cheese.

Hot Tot is an amazing line of styling products created just for tots with safe, natural, and organic ingredients. And Megan, the founder of Hot Tots, sent me some styling products for me to try on Ariyana. Ariyana loves the Conditioning Detangler because it smells so good and I love it because it tames her tangles and moisturizes her dry hair.

I am a bit obsessed with updating my kitchen gadgets and this Olive Wood Salt and Pepper Keeper is my latest purchase.
